A homemade burger is the ultimate comfort food that delights both young and old. With juicy patties, crispy bacon, and fresh vegetables, this recipe is perfect for a cozy evening at home.
The burgers are easy to make and can be customized to your taste. Add your favorite dressings and extra toppings to make them even more delicious.
Serve the burgers with crispy French fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal that will impress your guests or family.
Divide the ground beef into portions of 3.53 oz.
Form each portion of ground beef into meatballs using both hands for about 20 seconds per meatball. They should become slightly firm, making them easier to shape.
Place a meatball on the cutting board and press down with one hand while using the other hand to shape the sides, giving the finished patty a nicer form.
The patty should be almost twice the size of the bun to fit properly after cooking.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all patties are formed.
Sprinkle a thin layer of salt over all the patties. Let them rest for now, as they should not be too cold when placed on the pan.
Preheat the oven to 356°F. It will be used for the bacon in step 13.
Clean 3-4 leaves of iceberg lettuce and cut them into short, thin strips.
Wash and optionally peel the cucumber, then slice it thinly.
Wash and slice the tomato thinly. If it's a large tomato, you can cut thicker slices and use only one slice per burger.
Peel and slice the onion thinly. If it's a large onion, the same applies as with the tomato.
Pour the oil into a pan and turn the heat up to near maximum.
Place baking paper on a baking tray, lay out all the bacon slices, and bake them in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until crispy.
When the pan starts to smoke, place 2 patties at a time—depending on the size of the pan.
Let them fry for 2-3 minutes on one side without moving them too much.
Flip the patties and grind/sprinkle pepper over them. This way, you avoid burning the pepper on the pan.
Fry the patties again for 2-3 minutes on the other side.
After about 1 minute on the second side, add a slice of cheese to each patty.
Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a plate.
If you need to fry more patties, you can use a spatula to remove the burnt residues and then add a little new oil. Repeat steps 14-19.
Warm the buns at 356°F for 3-4 minutes or until they are warm inside. Preferably, they should not become too dry.
Assemble the burger as you like. One way could be to spread mayo on both buns, place lettuce on the bottom bun followed by the patty, tomato, cucumber, onion, and bacon.
Enjoy immediately. Bon appétit!
